REMOTE LEARNING CONTINGENCY PLAN 2020/21
REMOTE LEARNING POLICY 2020/21
Remote EDUCATION - ONLINE SAFETY
NATIONAL LOCKDOWN - JANUARY 2021
We are currently in a period of National Lockdown.
For children learning at home, teachers will primarily use SEESAW as a vehicle for remote teaching and learning. Daily tasks and lessons will be posted on SEESAW and children will receive feedback from their teachers.
Children are expected to engage in 3 to 4 hours of home learning each day. Teachers will communicate on a daily basis with children and parents.
A basic timetable of daily tasks that will be delivered to each year group can be found below. Instructions and teaching videos are on SEESAW.

Remote education provision: information for parents
This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education where national or local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.
The remote curriculum: what is taught to pupils at home
A pupil’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach, while we take all necessary actions to prepare for a longer period of remote teaching.
What should my child expect from immediate remote education in the first day or two of pupils being sent home?
We will be predominantly using SEESAW to share the tasks we wish your child to complete each day and also to share teaching videos.
You and your child are familiar with SEESAW as we used it throughout the first Lockdown period in March through to July and we also use it for weekly homework.
The way teachers use SEESAW will be slightly different for different year groups as it will be dependent upon the age of the children.
Alongside SEESAW, each child has been given a learning pack with the resources they will need to complete their daily tasks. There is a book where your child will record their evidence of their learning during this Lockdown period.
When children complete tasks we ask that they upload photographs of their work so that teachers can provide feedback.
If your child is struggling with a task that has been set please let us know through SEESAW so we can help.
Following the first few days of remote education, will my child be taught broadly the same curriculum as they would if they were in school?
We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate.
Remote teaching and study time each day
How long can I expect work set by the school to take my child each day?
We expect that children will engage with remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) for 3 to 4 hours each day.
This includes reading time.
Accessing remote education
How will my child access any online remote education you are providing?
Children will access remote education via SEESAW. If your child loses their code please let their class teacher know as soon possible by telephoning the school office.
If my child does not have digital or online access at home, how will you support them to access remote education?
We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home.
Please let school know if your child does not have access to a laptop or tablet so that we can help with this.
If you do not have an internet connection then let school know via the school office.
We will provide learning packs which include printed copies of any materials your child will need.
Your child can photograph their work and submit it to their class teacher via SEESAW but they should also keep a copy in their work book which we will collect when children return to school.
How will my child be taught remotely?
We use a combination of the following approaches to teach pupils remotely:
Predominantly we will use SEESAW where daily tasks will be set for your child with clear instructions each day.
We will use recorded teaching that will include recordings of teachers.
We will also age appropriately use some live sessions.
Engagement and feedback
What are your expectations for my child’s engagement and the support that we as parents and carers should provide at home?
If at home, we expect all children to engage with home learning on each school day unless your child is unwell. If your child is unwell you should notify their class teacher.
You should establish a good routine and support your child with their learning where you can.
You can find a timetable for each year group on the home learning page of the school website and teachers have also sent them to you. This explains the subjects that will be covered each day through the set daily tasks. Children may work through the tasks in any order.
How will you check whether my child is engaging with their work and how will I be informed if there are concerns?
Teachers will check the daily tasks each day on SEESAW and will feedback on the work that has been sent to them. If they are concerned that a child is not engaging in home learning they will report this to Mrs Bennison, Mrs Hughes and Mrs Ralph and we will contact parents to offer support and check on children.
How will you assess my child’s work and progress?
Feedback can take many forms and may not always mean extensive written comments for individual children. Teachers will check children’s work on SEESAW and comments will be given or a positive ‘thumbs up’. In addition to class teachers checking work, Mrs Bennison and Mrs Ralph will also occasionally feedback on work.
Additional support for pupils with particular needs
How will you work with me to help my child who needs additional support from adults at home to access remote education?
We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we are here in school to support. Please telephone the school office if you need help with this.
In the event that a pupil or ‘class bubble’ need to self-isolate we have developed our ‘Remote Learning - Contingency Plan’ which explains the expectations around ‘Home Learning’. We will continue to primarily use SEESAW as our main resource for home learning as this was positively used throughout the National Lockdown.
